REVISED RANGE AND AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY

Only AMERICAN MADE, brass-cased, copper-jacketed, good quality ammo from the approved list below is allowed at Red River West.
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE POLICIES.

RANGE POLICIES UPDATE

Red River West representatives will inspect all ammo brought for classes, competition or personal use at our facility. This is to ensure that all ammo is safe for use here and complies with our Ammo Restrictions policy. If any unauthorized restricted ammo is found, the person having it will be immediately expelled from the range with no refund. This is for the safety of all persons at the range as well as for protection of our property and targetry.
Please note only Red River West can approve or suggest ammo, not an instructor. However, check the instructor's website to ensure you have the required minimum round count.
MAGAZINE LOADING/UNLOADING IS ALLOWED ONLY AT THE GEAR TABLES. THERE IS NO LOADING/UNLOADING MAGAZINES IN THE PARKING OR GENERAL AREAS.

APPROVED AMMO ONLY

EFFECTIVE AS OF AUGUST 1, 2016, ONLY AMMO FROM THESE MANUFACTURERS WILL BE ALLOWED (SUBJECT TO THE RESTRICTIONS POLICY STATED BELOW):

  • REMINGTON;
  • WINCHESTER;
  • FEDERAL;
  • LAWMAN;
  • HORNADY;
  • BLACK HILLS.

LONG RANGE AMMO

For long range classes, match ammunition is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.

AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY

NO steel case, steel core, armor piercing (M855, green tip, SS109, Win Q3131, Win 3131A, tungsten penetrator, black tip, etc.), XM-193, tracer, incendiary, aluminum case, or communist block ammo is allowed…PERIOD.
No ‘remanufactured’ ammo is allowed from ANY manufacturer.
For long range classes, match ammunition manufactured by one of the above listed manufacturers is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.

HOLSTER RESTRICTIONS POLICY

SERPA HOLSTERS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT RED RIVER WEST. All holsters will be inspected to ensure they are in compliance with our guidelines and safe for use. This includes any holster considered "serpaesque" or having the same type of release that the Serpa holsters have.

ABOUT JJ RACAZA

JJ Racaza is a highly accomplished trainer, world-class competition shooter, and former Federal Agent.  His achievements in competitive shooting are impressive.  JJ is a 3-time world speed shooting champion and he has broken and held multiple world speed shooting records.  As a 3-time US Gold Team Member for the World Shooting Championships, JJ led the US Team in 2011 and 2014.  In 2011 he was ranked #2 in the world in the open category and in 2014 he was #2 in the production class.  JJ is a Double Grand Master in the USPSA and he was also a high-ranking competitor on the History Channel’s Top Shot television program.

JJ’s instructor and professional credentials are equally impressive.  He is a former Federal Agent with the Department of Homeland Security.  During his government service, JJ was a Lead Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, and law enforcement academy instructor.  JJ is certified from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) as an instructor in firearms and defensive tactics.

1-Day High Speed Marksmanship 2 - Pistol

In defensive and competitive shooting, speed and accuracy are everything. The faster you go, the less accurate you become forcing the shooter to compromise speed for precision. High Speed Marksmanship will teach you the skills required to break your current shooting plateau and take you to a new level. Speed shooting and world record breaking competitive shooter JJ Racaza instructs this technical handgun class that will help you gain speed through efficiency while maintaining the highest degrees of marksmanship.

This course covers principles of accuracy and speed, methodologies for improving the draw stroke, shooting efficiency, managing weapon recoil, and harnessing anticipation to proactively drive the gun into position for a follow-up shot. Dry techniques and live fire drills are used to improve movement, accuracy and speed that focus on weapon presentation, grip, trigger technique, and sight picture. Baseline scores are taken at the beginning of the class and drills are run against the clock to track your progress and improvement throughout the day.

HSM 2 PREREQUISITES: Completion of High Speed Marksmanship 1

COURSE/STUDENT EQUIPMENT:

1. Standard range attire while conducting firearms training (weather-appropriate active wear, etc.).
2. Semi-automatic pistol with at least 2-3 spare magazines.
3. 500 rounds of handgun ammunition. (American made brass case, copper jacketed ammo by one of the Red River West approved manufacturers. See the RED RIVER WEST
AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY PRIOR TO PURCHASING YOUR AMMO.) Handloads WILL be allowed for this class; however you should have some approved factory ammo on hand in the event of a malfunction with handloads. All ammo questions should be directed to Red River West personnel.
4. Strong-side belt holster. *Blackhawk Serpa model holsters (or holsters manufactured like the Serpa) are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
5. Support-side magazine carrier (single or double magazine pouches).
6. Belt; rigid and sturdy, suitable for range work and compatible with holster and magazine carrier.
7. Hearing protection.
8. Eye protection – sunglasses okay.

COURSE COST:
$295.00

RANGE FEE:
$25.00 per day (This is a separate fee payable to Red River West and is collected day of class).
