CARBINE ELEMENTS THEORY 2 (CET2)

​OCTOBER 5-7       REGISTRATION

​Carbine Elements Theory 2 is designed to give the intermediate or advanced shooter the proper carbine fundamentals. Starting with mindset, the class focuses on the core foundation of accuracy, acceptable accuracy under dynamic stress.
PREREQUISITES: CET1 or similar.

  • Proper gear selection and placement
  • Establishing a proper zero
  • 7 fundamentals (Accuracy Drills, Axis and Mechanics of Recoil)
  • 3 Core Fundamentals
  • Acceptable Accuracy Drills
  • Balance of Speed and Accuracy
  • Admin reloads / Speed reloads / Tactical reloads Check
  • Transition Shoulder Shooting Drills
  • Reactive Movement Drills
  • Running Drills
  • Instinctive Shooting and Mindset Drills
  • Malfunctions
  • Improvised shooting positions with Transitional Shooting Drills


RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
Students provide their own ammo: 2000 rounds of carbine and 200 rounds of Handgun ammo minimum. SEE RED RIVER WEST'S
AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY PRIOR TO PURCHASING AMMO FOR CLASS. If you have any questions, contact RED RIVER WEST directly.
Hardware - A functional and practical carbine or battle rifle chambered in 5.56×45, 5.45×39, 300 Blackout, 7.62×39, 7.62×51.  A secondary weapon (handgun) of choice. If available, a spare weapon system is also an excellent idea. A cleaning kit and tools that are compatible with the weapon system(s) in question is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of 5 working magazines.

  • Note pad, and pen/pencil
  • Clothing suited to strenuous activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
  • Rain gear/cold weather gear (seasonal)
  • Ear pro (electronic preferred) 
  • Eye pro
  • Baseball style hat recommended
  • Proper belt to support equipment
  • A holster and magazine pouch that will retain equipment when moving
  • Tools that work on your weapon
  • Weapons lube
  • Water hydrating device
  • Knee and elbow pads (optional)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • An open mind

COURSE COST: $600.00

RANGE FEE COST:   $35/day per student (This is a separate fee payable to Red River West and is payable first day of class.)

ABOUT CHRIS COSTA AND COSTA LUDUS

Prior to founding Costa Ludus in 2011, Chris Costa spent 4 years as the President of Magpul Dynamics. Before founding Magpul Dynamics, Costa spent 7 years in the private sector at Applied Marine Technologies Inc. (AMTI) on assignment with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Risk Management Division (RMD). At AMTI, Costa specialized in teaching Police Tactical Assault Operations for both Maritime and Critical Infrastructure take-back. Costa also provided Red Team Vulnerability Assessments on critical infrastructures for the US Government. Prior to this, Costa spent 12 years with the United States Coast Guard, conducting counter-drug operations and special missions in Europe, the Middle East, and South America with such units as: the International Training Division (ITD), Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, Plank-Owner of Port Security Unit 302, and the Taclet Law Enforcement Team North.

Costa Ludus conducts training for the game of life, where the knowledge and skills learned in training may one day translate over to the streets or battlefield, determining life or death. We train others with the understanding that life is bigger than us. We understand the sacrifices that others make on a daily basis for our freedoms – that is why we take training so seriously.

REVISED RANGE AND AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY

​Only AMERICAN MADE, brass-cased, copper-jacketed, good quality ammo from the approved list below is allowed at Red River West.
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE POLICIES.

RANGE POLICIES UPDATE

Red River West representatives will inspect all ammo brought for classes, competition or personal use at our facility. This is to ensure that all ammo is safe for use here and complies with our Ammo Restrictions policy. If any unauthorized restricted ammo is found, the person having it will be immediately expelled from the range with no refund. This is for the safety of all persons at the range as well as for protection of our property and targetry.
Please note only Red River West can approve or suggest ammo, not an instructor. However, check the instructor's website to ensure you have the required minimum round count.
MAGAZINE LOADING/UNLOADING IS ALLOWED ONLY AT THE GEAR TABLES. THERE IS NO LOADING/UNLOADING MAGAZINES IN THE PARKING OR GENERAL AREAS.

APPROVED AMMO ONLY

ONLY AMMO FROM THESE MANUFACTURERS WILL BE ALLOWED (SUBJECT TO THE RESTRICTIONS POLICY STATED BELOW):

  • REMINGTON;
  • WINCHESTER;
  • FEDERAL;
  • LAWMAN;
  • HORNADY;
  • BLACK HILLS.

LONG RANGE AMMO

For long range classes, match ammunition is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.

AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY

NO steel case, steel core, armor piercing (M855, green tip, SS109, Win Q3131, Win 3131A, tungsten penetrator, black tip, etc.), XM-193, tracer, incendiary, aluminum case, or communist block ammo is allowed…PERIOD.
No ‘remanufactured’ ammo is allowed from ANY manufacturer.
For long range classes, match ammunition manufactured by one of the above listed manufacturers is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.

HOLSTER RESTRICTIONS POLICY

SERPA HOLSTERS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT RED RIVER WEST. All holsters will be inspected to ensure they are in compliance with our guidelines and safe for use. This includes any holster considered "serpaesque" or having the same type of release that the Serpa holsters have.

HANDGUN ELEMENTS THEORY 1 (HET1)

​OCTOBER 9-11       REGISTRATION

​Handgun Elements Theory 1 is designed to give the beginner, intermediate or advanced shooter the proper handgun fundamentals. Starting with mindset, the class focuses on the core foundation of accuracy, acceptable accuracy under dynamic stress, and how to effectively balance speed and accuracy with proper weapon manipulation.   • Clothing suited to strenuous activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
  • Rain gear/cold weather gear (seasonal)
