LONG RANGE PLANS
Have you been bitten by that precision rifle bug? Well, we're here for you! Whether your preference is precision rifle or hunting rifle, our facility is a great place to perfect your precision.
Are you considering entering the Rifles on the Red precision rifle challenge? Why not come out and get accustomed to our facility ahead of time? We can't show you the courses of fire but, you can still get a feel for what we are all about and what an exciting challenge the match will be.
LONG RANGE - PUBLIC USE
CALIBER AND VELOCITY RESTRICTIONS
NO .50 OR .338 IS ALLOWED AT RED RIVER WEST.
Maximum velocity is 3,200 fps.
Appointments are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 9am - 6pm with last shots at 5:30 pm. Time slots are on a first come first serve basis. Some weekends are available, depending on our training schedule. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
LONG RANGE SAFETY VETTING COURSE
The Long Range Safety Vetting Course is required for anyone (regardless of occupation or experience) who wants to shoot past 300 yards. Maximum shooting distance for public use is 1,050 yards.
This is a 3 hour course designed to review basic safety principles of handling a rifle, manipulation, procedures, equipment needed and use. At the end of the class each individual shooter will be evaluated for proficiency with their rifle, safety and range procedures, SOP, rules and restrictions, as well as knowledge of operation and parts, and ability to clear malfunctions and equipment needed.
Shooter must qualify at each 100 yards to move out to the next - (public range access out to 1000 yards). To qualify, the shooter must have multiple shots center mass on each designated target.
Qualification will be done with a Red River West staff member.
Class can be done one on one or as a group.
Successful completion of this class allows the shooter access to the Long Range provided they continue to abide by all safety procedures and protocols.
COURSE COST: $100.00
LONG RANGE ACCESS
The Long Range Vetting Course is REQUIRED for anyone wanting to shoot out past 300 yards. During the Long Range Vetting Course, the shooter will also be qualified for distance. See the Course description below.
Access to any of our ranges is by scheduled appointment only. Minimum 24 hours notice is required for appointments. This is for safety and to ensure everyone has adequate time on the range.
Shooting is allowed in standing, kneeling and prone positions.
We have platforms and benches on our long ranges which add a bit of comfort to the long range shooting experience.
2 Hour Minimum
$25 for the first 2 hours
$13 per hour for each hour after that
All targetry on our long ranges is steel.
MINIMUM AGE: Minimum age for rifle ranges is 18.

To request a Safety Vetting Class download REGISTRATION FORM here. You may take the class at your first scheduled Range Time. (The hourly rate begins after completion of the class.)
REVISED RANGE AND AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY
Only AMERICAN MADE, brass-cased, copper-jacketed, good quality ammo from the approved list below is allowed at Red River West.
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE POLICIES.
RANGE POLICIES UPDATE
Red River West representatives will inspect all ammo brought for classes, competition or personal use at our facility. This is to ensure that all ammo is safe for use here and complies with our Ammo Restrictions policy. If any unauthorized restricted ammo is found, the person having it will be immediately expelled from the range with no refund. This is for the safety of all persons at the range as well as for protection of our property and targetry.
MAGAZINE LOADING/UNLOADING IS ALLOWED ONLY AT THE GEAR TABLES. THERE IS NO LOADING/UNLOADING MAGAZINES IN THE PARKING OR GENERAL AREAS.
Please note only Red River West can approve or suggest ammo, not an instructor. However, check the instructor's website to ensure you have the required minimum round count.

LONG RANGE AMMO
For long range classes, match ammunition is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.
AMMO RESTRICTIONS POLICY
NO steel case, steel core, armor piercing (M855, green tip, SS109, Win Q3131, Win 3131A, tungsten penetrator, black tip, etc.), xm193, tracer, incendiary, aluminum case, or communist block ammo is allowed…PERIOD.
No ‘remanufactured’ ammo is allowed from ANY manufacturer.
For long range classes, match ammunition manufactured by one of the above listed manufacturers is required; for example, Federal Gold Medal Match or Black Hills Match.
HOLSTER RESTRICTIONS POLICY
SERPA HOLSTERS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT RED RIVER WEST. All holsters will be inspected to ensure they are in compliance with our guidelines and safe for use. This includes any holster considered "serpaesque" or having the same type of release that the Serpa holsters have.
